Expand 'Made in India' products: Piyush Goyal asks trade leaders

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Tuesday addressed the National Conference of Trade Leaders in New Delhi. He highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening ease of doing business and enhancing the welfare of workers. Goyal recalled the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, whose legacy is being commemorated after 350 years. He said following the ideals laid down by the Guru would bring pride and honour to the nation and ensure a bright future for the country. “Remembering the vision with which Guru Tegh Bahadur united the nation will continue to guide India’s progress,” he added.
The minister noted that ease of doing business has been significantly improved through the Jan Vishwas Bill, which simplifies procedures and reduces compliance burdens. Addressing the idea of “One Nation, One License,” Goyal suggested that states such as Delhi and Maharashtra could pilot a single online portal integrating state and municipal trade licences. He also highlighted the four recently enacted Labour Codes, which aim to benefit unorganised and gig workers. “Previously, these workers had to navigate numerous forms, inspections, and complex regulations. The new framework simplifies processes, ensuring access to proper facilities, social security, and better working conditions,” Goyal said, adding that both employers and employees have welcomed the reforms.
Goyal encouraged traders to promote Swadeshi products, urging suppliers to clearly indicate the manufacturing location on packaging and suggesting that shops may display that they sell Swadeshi goods. He emphasised the importance of expanding the presence of “Made in India” products to strengthen domestic trade and manufacturing.
