Tear Gas, Lathicharge as CJP protesters try to breach barricades

In New Delhi, Forces resorted to a baton-charge near Parliament Street after thousands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters allegedly tried to breach barricades while marching towards Parliament on Monday. At around 11.25 am, protesters attempted to push through multiple barricades erected in the high-security zone, sources said. : Chaos unfolded on Monday as security personnel used tear-gas shells and baton-charging to disperse the crowd of protesters near the Constitution Club and the Reserve Bank of India. A scuffle-like situation ensued, in which some protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries, they said.Police resorted to tear gas to disperse protesters near Raisina Road. CJP shares visuals of security personnel using tear gas shells at Jantar Mantar.

Protestors have gathered in large numbers outside Janpath metro station. The entire stretch, around 500 metres, is jam packed by protestors. People gathered in large numer to take part in 'Chalo Sansad' march.  The protesters have reached near Reserve Bank of India, Press Club of India and the Raisina road area.

Several protestors removed chained barricades placed by security forces around the Jantar Mantar protest site on Monday. CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the outfit's founder Abhijeet Dipke had been “picked up” by the police amid the protest march. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed five stations over security concerns in view of the CJP protest in the Capital. However, some gates of the stations were reopened after a brief closure. These included the Rajiv Chowk metro station, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Janpath.
