The three-time MLA from Bhabanipur is set to face a strong challenge from Suvendu Adhikari of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle.Among those expected to sign her nomination papers were Rubi Hakim, wife of Firhad Hakim, along with local party leaders including Bablu Singh and Miraj Shah. The TMC projected the roadshow and nomination filing as a reflection of Bhabanipur’s pluralistic character, highlighting the constituency’s diverse demographic mix of Gujarati traders, Bengali families, Punjabi households, and Muslim residents who have coexisted for decades. The contest in Bhabanipur is being seen as politically significant, with both major parties intensifying their campaigns in the constituency.
