Flood causes heavy loss

Though the package is yet to be announced for the Konkan and western regions, the Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar said on Thursday that the State would be transferring Rs. 10,000 into the account of every flood-hit victim as emergency aid.  Several towns of Maharashtra were deluged to very heavy rainfall which resulted in catastrophic events like landslides claiming scores of lives and damaging property. Parts of the Raigad and Ratnagiri districts in the coastal Konkan region and Kolhapur district in western Maharashtra have been worst affected by the floods. Besides that, heavy rains have been pounding parts of the Satara district.

Maharashtra on Monday, July 27 became the first state in the country to fully vaccinate more than one crore people against Covid-19. Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Dr. Pradeep Vyas said that the number of people who had been administered both doses had reached 1,00,64,308. CM reviews Covid situation

Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray chaired a meeting on Thursday to review the Covid-19 situation in the state. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, health minister Tope said that coronavirus curbs are likely relaxed in the 25 districts, including Mumbai, which have reported a lower positivity and growth rate than the state's average. No relaxations will be given to the remaining 11 districts which have positivity and growth rates more than the state average, the health minister said, adding that a joint proposal from the state health and relief and rehabilitation departments was submitted to the chief minister in the matter. Maharashtra imposed stricter Covid-19 norms by reducing the five-level relaxation plan to three after cases of Delta-plus variants were found last month. The first two levels having maximum relaxations were removed till further order.
