Congress has released its first list of 55 candidates for the upcoming Keralam Assembly elections. Among key candidates, VD Satheesan will contest from Paravur, while Ramesh Chennithala has been nominated from Haripad. Chandy Oommen, son of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has been fielded from Puthuppally. Other key candidates include K Muraleedharan from Vattiyoorkavu and Ramya Haridas from Chirayinkeezhu. The Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC) met in New Delhi on Tuesday and cleared names of candidates.

The elections to 140-member Keralam Assembly will be held in a single phase on April 9, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
