Gujarat is stepping up efforts to attract global partnerships in manufacturing and technology as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a series of high-level engagements with US technology companies and the Gujarati diaspora during his official visit to the United States.India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, hosted Patel and members of the Gujarati diaspora at India House in Washington on Wednesday(local time). Discussions focused on Gujarat’s efforts to attract global partnerships in manufacturing and technology and strengthen ties with the diaspora,according to agency reports.

The meeting came on the third day of Patel’s US visit, during which the Gujarat delegation held discussions with leading technology companies on potential partnerships in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and skill development.The US outreach is linked to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2027, with the state seeking to attract technology investments and expand collaborations in emerging sectors.

On August 19, Patel visited the Google campus and held discussions with Vice President Chandu Thota and senior executives on potential areas of cooperation. The talks covered AI training programmes for youth, educators and students, along with the use of AI in agriculture to optimise crop patterns, monitor soil health and strengthen climate resilience.The discussions also explored Google Workspace Sovereign AI solutions aimed at advanced data security.Patel separately held a one-on-one meeting with Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas, where they discussed potential collaborations, establishing engineering and research and development facilities, and opportunities for data centres and hybrid setups in Gujarat.The Chief Minister also met Micron Technology Chairman and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra to review the progress of the company’s semiconductor facility at Sanand.

Patel said Gujarat was emerging as a global semiconductor hub, with Sanand and Dholera playing a key role in the state’s semiconductor ecosystem. The discussions also focused on the progress of Micron’s Sanand facility and the state government’s support for advanced manufacturing and innovation.According to the Gujarat government, Mehrotra appreciated the state’s approval of 20 acres of land for the Sanand facility within a day and praised its proactive approach towards facilitating commercial production at the unit.Patel also recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of Micron’s semiconductor facility at Sanand in February 2026, highlighting the growing importance of Sanand and Dholera in Gujarat’s semiconductor ambitions.During his visit, Patel also visited the Consulate General of India in San Francisco and met Consul General K Srikar Reddy. He appreciated the Consulate’s efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and support the Indian diaspora.
