In Gujarat, the State Election Commission has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming local body elections across the state. Polling for local bodies will take place on the 26th of April, from 7 am to 6 pm, while counting of votes will be held on the 28th of April. Briefing the media on Wednesday in Gandhinagar, the State Election Commissioner S. Murli Krishna said the elections will be held for fifteen Municipal Corporations, eighty-four Municipalities, thirty-four District Panchayats, and two hundred and sixty Taluka Panchayats. By-elections will be held for 13 seats across 11 municipalities. According to the schedule, the nomination process will begin on the 6th of April, with the 11th of April as the last date for filing papers. Scrutiny will be conducted on the 13th of April, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until the 15th of April.
