Rahul Gandhi says, opposition's unity is a political compulsion

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for opposition unity against the BJP, saying there's "a huge undercurrent against BJP". The opposition has to coordinate effectively on alternative vision to the BJP, he added. Rahul Gandhi on Saturday addressed a press meet in New Delhi and summarised his Yatra so far. To questions on broader support for his Yatra, he said "every opposition leader" is with the Congress in Bharat Jodo Yatra. "But I understand there are some political compulsions," he said. "The doors of Bharat Jodo Yatra are open for everyone, we are not going to stop anyone from joining us. Akhilesh ji, Mayawati ji and others want Mohabbat ka Hindustan (an India of love)," he said in an open invite to the other parties of the opposition ahead of the 2024 general elections. Gandhi charged that the govrnment is taking wrong desision about China and LAc, which should be rectified.

सरकार और आर्मी में फर्क है। सरकार ने गलत निर्णय लिया है, उन्हें आर्मी के पीछे नहीं छिपना चाहिए।

सरकार ये माने कि गलती हुई, वो सुधार करेंगे। पूरा विपक्ष उनके साथ खड़ा होगा।

On the upcoming 2024 elections, he said, "If the Opposition stands united, it will become difficult for the BJP to win the elections. The Opposition has to go to the people with an alternative vision. There's a massive undercurrent against the BJP right now." In reply to a question about Congress's PM face for the upcoming polls, he said, "My focus is on fighting hatred and anger." Gandhi said the Bharat Jodo yatra is not possible in a bullet-proof car. "The government wants me to do the Bharat Jodo yatra in a bullet-proof car. How can I do that? This is a foot march," he said. Rahul Gandhi said the foot march represents India's emotions and has taught him a lot.
