Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) on late Thursday evening to finalise the first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was attended by BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders.Key state leaders, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadndavis, Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Goa CM Pramod Sawant, were also present in the meeting.The meeting, which began around 10:30 pm on Thursday, lasted for more than four hours and was held at the party's headquarters in New Delhi.
It is said that the party will name a chunk of candidates before the election dates are announced.The BJP is expecting the first-off-the-block strategy will put psychological pressure on the Congress as well as portray their 'ineptitude" before the voters.
