BJP claims abuses again hurled at PM Modi’s mother in Tejashwi’s rally

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother once again became the target of abusive remarks, this time by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers during Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s ongoing Bihar Adhikar Yatra.The allegation comes barely a month after a similar controversy in Darbhanga, where abuses were allegedly hurled at Modi’s late mother during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra. With assembly elections due later this year, the incident has added to the already heated political atmosphere in Bihar.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, sharing a video of the purported incident on his social media handle, accused Tejashwi Yadav of encouraging “abusive politics.” He wrote, “Tejashwi Yadav has once again insulted Modi ji’s late mother. He has once again torn apart the culture of Bihar. In the rally, the RJD workers were hurling as many abuses as they could, and Tejashwi was encouraging them. The mothers and sisters of Bihar will surely hold him accountable for this thuggish mentality and abusive behaviour.”Choudhary further termed the act a “grave insult to democracy,” questioning whether insulting mothers and sisters had now become the opposition’s “political weapon.”
Echoing his remarks, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said in a post on X, “Once again, abuses were hurled at the late mother of PM Modi Ji during Tejashwi Yadav’s yatra, and the RJD leader was boosting the morale of his workers. It’s shocking… This shows their mindset.”The BJP has accused the RJD of normalizing offensive rhetoric, while the party leadership has so far remained silent. Despite repeated attempts, no RJD office-bearer was available for comments on the issue.
Tejashwi Yadav, who is being seen as the INDIA bloc’s key face in the upcoming Bihar assembly polls, launched the Bihar Adhikar Yatra on September 16 from Jehanabad. In the first leg, he visited strongholds of the ruling NDA, including Nalanda—Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district—and Begusarai, the constituency of Union minister Giriraj Singh. The first phase of the yatra concluded on September 20 in Vaishali.
