The Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren wants a memorable farewell for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has urged BCCI to arrange a farewell match for Dhoni in Ranchi which will be hosted by state of Jharlhand to honour it's one of the greatest son.
It was indeed not very unexpected when the most successful captain of Indian cricket Mahendra Singh Dhoni, popularly known in his home town Ranchi as 'Mahi' said in Instagram post on 15th August, 2020 .“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as retired,” With this the speculation for the last one year whether he will continue to be associated with international cricket comes to an end.
The 39-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman quit Tests in 2014 and has been out of international cricket since India's semi-final loss to New Zealand in last year's World Cup.He had stepped down from ODI captaincy in January 2017 after having retired from Tests on December 30, 2014, in Australia. The legendary Indian captain from Ranchi led India in 199 ODIs and 72 T20Is.
Dhoni is the only captain to win all three major International Cricket Council trophies — the World Cup, the World Twenty twenty and the Champions Trophy. The God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar reacted profoundly when he tweeted- "Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, @msdhoni. Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life. Wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings."

Yet another legendary Industrialist Ratan Tata has given a very respectful comment on Dhoni-."You would always remain a respectable part of Indian History Dhoni !"

Harsha Bhogle says “Aap har pal ke shayar hain” Achievements of M S Dhoni has been phenomenal as he holds the record for most international matches as captain (332). Unarguably the quickest man behind the wicket, Dhoni has 195 international stumpings, the most by any wicket-keeper in the international cricket.
