Recently,The first transgender employment fair was organized in Delhi and about 35 transgenders were offered jobs and appointment letters were handed over to successfull candidates.Members of the transgender community participated in it with full confidence.Companies participated in the fair included Tata Steel, Godrej Properties, Accenture, Amex and EY Foundation.
23 year old Bangalorean Prakriti Soni had reached this fair all the way from bangaluru.Soni had a CV in her hands.She revealed her identity as a transwoman.Prakriti has completed her graduation in English, Psychology and Theater from a reputed university. 27 year old transman. Romil Thakur lives in Delhi. He was seen giving an interview at an Amex stall. He is a post graduate. He had to leave his job with an insurance company. This is when he decided to undergo gender reassignment treatment to become a female. His treatment has been completed. He works in a sales company. He was in the job fair for better job opportunities. Another transgender Ashwin Mehra was also very confident about getting the job. They said that time and thinking is changing. Society will accept people like them to give space among themselves.
The fair was organized by Tweet Foundation and In-Harmony. They provide consultancy services. It was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. About 500 members of the transgender community participated in the fair. The purpose of such a fair was to make transpersons financially independent.This initiative cannot be called ordinary. majority of Transgender still have to beg for a living. Many are involved in prostitution also. To live respectfully in society It is necessary to bring the capable people of the transgender community into the mainstream,This is a big ray of hope for them.
