The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday announced a fresh list of 13 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, further intensifying its campaign in the poll-bound state.Among the key names, Soma Thakur has been fielded from the Bagda constituency. Shyamal Hati will contest from Howrah Dakshin, while Girija Shankar Roy has been nominated from Natabari. Ashutosh Barma has been chosen as the party’s candidate from Sitai.

The party has also named Uttam Kumar Banik from Magrahat Purba, Debangshu Panda from Falta, Debashish Dhar from Sonarpur Uttar, and Ranjan Kumar Paul from Panchla, among others included in the latest list.With this announcement, the BJP continues to expand its slate of candidates as it looks to strengthen its position in West Bengal ahead of the elections.Polling for the 294-member West Bengal Assembly will be conducted in two phases on April 23 and April 29, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
