Amid leadership controversy in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said he had a "productive" discussion over a breakfast meeting with CM Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru. Siddaramaiah had invited his deputy for breakfast at the behest of the Congress high command to hold discussions on the raging leadership issue. After an hour long breakfast of Idli-Sambar and Upma on Saturday morning, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar reaffirmed cohesion and unity within the Congress party saying that both the leaders have decided to follow whatever will be the decision of the party high command and resolve any "confusion." Siddaramaih said, "there are no differences" between the two leaders and there won't be any in the future as well. Our agenda is the 2028 elections. Local body elections are important. We discussed them. We also discussed bringing back Congress in the 2028 elections."

DK Shivakumar says, "There are big issues that our Parliament members need to raise in the Winter Session. Whatever the central government promised on sugarcane, maize and other programmes, they are not helping the state. The Chief Minister met the Prime Minister and submitted a representation. We will tell our Parliament members not to waste time. If you care about the welfare of the state, we must go together." On the no confidence move, he adds, "Let BJP do it. We are capable of running the Assembly and the government."
