Uttar Pradesh on Saturday becomes first state in country to administer over ten crore doses of Covid 19 vaccine. UP has also tested the highest number of Covid samples among the states. According to state health department a total of 10 crore 36 thousand 235 Covid vaccine doses have been administered so far in state. Additional Chief Secretary Medical and Health Amit Mohan Prasad told in Lucknow that the first dose has been given to more than 8 crore 15 lakh people and one crore 85 lakh 10 thousand 688 people have got second dose of Covid vaccine.
The state still maintains first place in Covid vaccination in country by testing more than 7,75,81000 Covid samples so far. A total of 2 lakh 15 thousand 209 samples were tested on Saturday out of which only 14 new cases of corona infection were detected. Presently there are a total of 177 active cases of corona in the state. Meanwhile Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that the Covid infection is not yet completely over, therefore everyone should behave according to Covid protocol even after vaccination. The 100 million mark was crossed at 2pm on September 25, the UP government further said.
The UP government said that as per census and electoral data, around 15 crore people in the state are eligible for vaccination. Of these, 8,15,25,547 crore - or 54.33 per cent - have received at least one dose and 1,85,10,688 crore people are fully vaccinated. "Cases of dengue, malaria are also decreasing as proper medical facility has been given," Prasad said. Cities like Meerut, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Firozabad among others have reported cases of dengue in the past few weeks.
