In UP, at least 11 people lost their lives and four were injured in a road accident in Gonda Sunday morning. According to police, a Bolero full of 15 devotees going to Prithvinath temple went out of control and fell into the canal near the Saryu canal bridge in Rehra village on the Parasarai Alaval Deoria road. Itiyathok police station in-charge KG Rao informed that 11 bodies have been recovered from the canal. Four people have been rescued safely.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the tragic loss of lives in an accident in Gonda district and announced ex gratia assistance for the victims’ families. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to an accident in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the mishap. May the injured recover soon.” “An ex gratia of Rs2 lakh from PMNRF will be given to the next of kin of each deceased, and ₹50,000 will be provided to those injured,” he added. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident and announced an ex-gratia of five lakh rupees for the families of the deceased.Authorities said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
