In Uttar Pradesh, 41 people, including women and children, have been killed by lightning in different districts in last 2 days. A majority of 14 deaths were reported in Prayagraj district. A majority of deaths were reported in rural areas across the state. Most of them were children and women. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced to provide compensation to each to the family of those killed.State’s Relief Commissioner, Ranvir Prasad said that 41 people died due to lightning strikes across 16 districts and 30 others are injured. Ex-gratia of four Lakh rupees each will be provided to the kin of the deceased. The injured will get proper medical treatment.
While Prayagraj reported maximum 14 deaths, five deaths each were reported in Kanpur and Fatehpur districts. In Kaushambi, four people died due to lightning strike while Firozabad, Unnao and Rae Bareli reported two deaths each. Hardoi and Jhansi also reported one death each. The Relief Commissioner said that around 250 animals also died and 20 got injured in these incidents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been briefed about the loss of lives and damages due to lightning, following which he has released funds from the PM relief fund for compensation to the family members of those killed,
The Prime Minister was briefed about the loss of lives and damages due to lightning in parts of Uttar Pradesh. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured.
