In Uttar Pradesh at least 17 persons have been killed and six others injured in a road accident on Tuesday night at Kanpur. This accident happened when a passengers carrying bus collided head on against a tempo under Sachendi area. Injured are admitted at Ursala hospital for treatment. The state government has announced financial help of two lakhs rupees to next kin of each deceased. Injured are being provided free treatment at hospital. Civil and police authorities have reached on the spot for rescue and relief works.
Inspector General of police, Kanpur Range, Mohit Agarwal said that a double decker bus of Maa Pitambara Travels left for Ahmedabad from Fazalganj at around 8pm on Tuesday. “When the bus reached near the Bharat Gas Agency at Sachendi, suddenly a tempo carrying five passengers came in front. The bus driver applied brakes but could not stop collided head-on with the tempo. The impact of the crash was such that the bus tossed and got rolled off to the other side the side of the road and fell in a ditch,” said Agarwal.
