In Uttar Pradesh, norms for Covid-19 vaccination for international flyers has been relaxed. The state government has asked the concerned authorities to make seperate arrangements at district hospitals or any other appropriate places for the purpose.Additional chief secretary health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, issued an order in this regard. The government has relaxed gap period from 84 to 28 days between first dose to second dose.
According to new guidelines, international flyers will not be needing prior registration on government's CoWIN portal. They will be allowed to take vaccine jab through walk-in registration at the vaccination centre.
THe state government also said that international flyers will be vaccinated only with Covishield, developed by the UK's AstraZeneca and manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII). Initially, a gap of 4-6 weeks was advised by the governmen for two dises of the vaccine. It was later extended 6-8 weeks and finally, to 84 days.
Meanwhiel, the UP government initiated intensive vaccination drive in rural area from Thursday. Under this drive, invitation slips for vaccination will be sent to villagers mentioning venue and date. One-third blocks of every district have been identified in each and every district for the exercise. The government aims to inoculate 10 lakh people every day in the month of July.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to intensify the vaccination process across the state.
