Uttar Pradesh government has recommended a CBI inquiry into the death of a Kanpur businessman Manish Gupta who was allegedly died after being thrashed by police in Gorakhpur. FIR have been lodged against six policemen in this case and investigation has been shifted to Kanpur from Gorakhpur on the demand of wife of deceased. State government send it's recommendation for CBI probe on October 1,2021. The home department in the Uttar Pradesh government wrote on Twitter on Friday night, "As per the instructions of the chief minister, a recommendation has been sent to the Government of India to initiate an investigation by the CBI."
Manish Gupta a business man from Kanpur was allegedly killed on Monday mid night at a hotel in Gorakhpur in the hands of local police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has met the family member of late Manish Gupta and assured appointment of deceased wife as OSD at Kanpur Development Authority and financial assistance of 10 lakhs rupees. Former Chief Minister of the State Akhilesh Yadav has also met the family members and provided financial assistance of 20 Lakhs rupees to the wife of deceased.
