In Uttar Pradesh, voting in the last and final phase of Assembly elections is underway. Voting is being held across 54 assembly seats in 9 districts, around 2.06 crores voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the polling to be held in Chandauli, Ghazipur, Mau, Azamgarh, Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Jaunpur, Sonbhadra and Varanasi districts.613 candidates across 54 assembly seats in nine districts are in the fray. Ministers Anil Rajbhar, Ravindra Jaiswal, Neelkanth Tiwari, Rama Shankar Singh Patel are in the fray. Uttar Pradesh votes for the 7th and the final phase on Monday, from 7am to 6pm, which also concludes the election season with assembly elections to UP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa all wrapped up.
Last time, the BJP and its allies swept the region. Six seats had gone to the BJP. Of the remaining two, one seat had gone to BJP ally Anupriya Patel's Apna Dal (S) and one to Om Prakash Rajbhar's Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), which is now partnering Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party.
