Speaking on the occasion, Shah highlighted the importance of strengthening blood donation infrastructure to meet growing medical needs and enhance access to lifesaving resources across Gujarat. The mobile unit — designed to travel to different localities — is expected to significantly expand voluntary blood collection efforts and assist hospitals in maintaining adequate blood supplies.
The inauguration is part of Shah’s broader visit to his home state, which also includes chairing a high-level ‘Manthan’ meeting of cooperation ministers that focuses on strengthening rural economies, modernising cooperative institutions, and expanding access to healthcare and storage facilities for farmers. The mobile blood collection van initiative is seen as a key addition to regional healthcare infrastructure and community support programmes, aligning with broader goals of improving public health services and emergency response readiness.
