Taliban won't talk until Ghani is President:Imran Khan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that theTaliban would not talk to the Afghanistan government until Asharaf Ghani remains the country's president.Talking to foreign journalists in Islamabad, Imran Khan said a political settlement was looking difficult under current conditions.  Khan said he tried to persuade the Islamist fundamentalist group when a delegation visited Islamabad to discuss peace negotiations a few months back.

Imran Khan has criticised the US for hasty withdrawal from the region, it is not willing to provide bases to US troops for future operations.“Pakistan is just considered only to be useful in the context of somehow settling this mess which has been left behind after 20 years of trying to find a military solution when there was not one,” Khan said. Afghan government has been criticising Islamabad for raising instability in the region as Kabul believes that Pakistan assists the Taliban in escalating violence in Afghanistan. Afghan people started a social media campaign against Pakistan, blaming them for the deteriorating situation of the country. The Taliban escalated its offensive against the Afghan forces soon after the US forces started withdrawing Afghanistan in large numbers after the peace deal signed between Washington and the Taliban in February last year.
