Strong earthquake tremors shook Delhi-NCR in the early hours of Monday. The tremors of magnitude 4 were felt at around 5:36 am at a depth of 5 kilometer, the national centre for seismology said.The quake, that struck Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and other NCR regions, was at a latitude of 28.59 North and longitude of 77.16 East, the NCS said.The tremors, which lasted for a few seconds, were strong enough to be felt in residential areas, causing panic among residents. Many people rushed out of their homes as a precaution. There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Delhi-NCR falls in Seismic Zone IV, making it prone to moderate to strong earthquakes.The National Centre for Seismology said in an update that tremors were felt across north India, with Delhi as the epicentre. The quake's depth was just 5 km. The epicentre was located near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan, an official told PTI.Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X and said, “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.”
