In Gujarat, 18 persons were killed after a blast at a firecrackers factory led to a blaze and collapse of parts of the building in Banaskantha district on Tuesday, officials said. The incident took place at the unit located near Deesa town. As per information, a blast at the factory, located in an industrial area, led to a fire and collapse of parts of the building, leaving several persons trapped in the rubble, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Deesa, Neha Panchal said.
Officials have launched a large-scale rescue operation, with concerns that the death toll could rise. Firefighters, police, and emergency response teams were swiftly deployed to the scene to control the situation and assist in the rescue efforts, according to information. Authorities have reportedly stated that while the exact number of workers trapped remains unknown.Vipul Barot, Mamlatdar, who arrived at the site, confirmed that rescue operations were ongoing but could not yet provide definitive details on the total number of casualties or survivors. “At the moment, our priority is to carry out rescue efforts efficiently and ensure that those injured receive immediate medical attention,” Barot stated.
