The Indian share market indices ended higher in the volatile session on Thursday led by strong buying in PSU bank stocks. At close, the Sensex was up 373.76 points or 0.48 percent at 78,954.76, and the Nifty was up 11.35 points or 0.05 percent at 24,636.
Reliance Industries, SBI, Bharat Electronics, Eternal, Titan Company were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Power Grid Corp, Tata Steel, TCS , JSW Steel and Bajaj Auto.On the sectoral front,the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Chemical outperformed, while the Nifty Realty, the Nifty Media and the Nifty Auto underperformed, according to agency reports.in the broader market.In the broader market,the Nifty Midcap 100 index declined 0.4%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index rose 0.5%, reflecting mixed trends.
Rupee Close:
On 6 Aug'26,the Indian rupee depreciated 16 paise to close at 95.24 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Thursday, on slight gains in the U.S. Dollar Index and a modest increase in U.S. treasury yields.Forex traders said the rupee was pressured by a slight recovery in the U.S. dollar index and foreign fund outflows, even as lower crude oil prices provided some underlying support.
