The domestic share market ended the volatile trading session on a lower note on Tuesday amid selling across sectors barring IT.At close, the Sensex was down 777.94 points or 1.04 percent at 74,003.82, and the Nifty was down 279.50 points or 1.19 percent at 23,118.60.
HCL Technologies, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra and Wipro were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bharat Electronics, Shriram Finance, Adani Enterprises, Interglobe Aviation, Grasim Industries.On the sectoral front,except IT, all other sectoral indices ended in the red with Realty index down 4%, while auto, consumer durables, energy, metal, media and PSU Bank down 2% each, according to agency reports.Broader indices underperformed the main indices, with Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices shedding more than 2% each.
Rupee Close:
On 15 Sep'26,the Indian rupee depreciated 38 paise to close at 95.92 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday , weighed down by escalating West Asia conflict and soaring Brent crude oil prices, which hit $108 per barrel, according to agency reports.Forex traders said surging dollar demand from oil importers has sparked fresh concerns over inflation and India's external trade balance.Moreover, weak domestic markets, a strong US dollar and worries over rising global treasury yields further dented investor sentiment.
