The domestic share market indices snapped their four-day winning streak and ended and traded lower on Tuesday, weighed by selling in Information Technology, PSU Bank and oil & gas stocks.At close, the Sensex was down 329.91 points or 0.44 percent at 74,529.08, and the Nifty was down 85.30 points or 0.36 percent at 23,329.
Coal India, Interglobe Aviation, Eternal, Titan Company and Dr Reddy's Labs were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Tata Consumer Products, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle, Bajaj Finance, Grasim Industries.On the sectoral front, Media index rose 1%, and Realty index added 0.9%, while IT index shed nearly 1% and FMCG, PSU Bank, Pharma, Oil & Gas down 0.5% each.Broader markets also ended lower, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 indices closing marginally down, according to agency reports.
Rupee Close:
On 22 Sep'26,the Indian rupee appreciated 20 paise to close at 95.58 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday , supported by a sharp fall in crude oil prices on improved global risk sentiments and hopes of diplomatic talks to resolve the U.S.-Iran war.Forex traders said Brent crude oil prices witnessed a sharp decline after reports surfaced that Iran would open the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the U.S. lifts its port blockade and eases military pressure around it.
