The domestic share market ended on a flat note on Friday,as easing crude oil prices and softer global bond yields provided support to investor sentiment. Market sentiment was further supported by Moodys upward revision of Indias FY27 GDP growth forecast to 7%, reflecting confidence in the resilience of the domestic economy despite persistent geopolitical West Asia crisis.At close the Sensex finished almost flat at 74,294.96, down 0.03% or 19.63 points, while Nifty 50 ended at 23,346.40, up 0.33% or 75.80 points.
Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd,Adani Enterprises Ltd,Bharti Airtel Ltd,HDFC Bank Ltd,Bajaj Finance Ltd were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd,SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd,Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd,Coal India Ltd,Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.Broader markets ended the day in positive territory. On the sectoral front, the Nifty Realty and Nifty Bank gained 1.19% and 0.54%, respectively. On the other hand, the Nifty IT declined and closed 1.03% lower.The Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 closed 1.24% and 1.74% higher, respectively.
Rupee Close:
On 18 Sep'26,the Indian rupee pared initial gains to close unchanged at 95.89 (provisional) against the US dollar on Friday amid a strong American currency.Positive momentum in domestic equity markets, however, supported the Indian currency, forex traders said. They also said the rupee's fall was capped as crude prices slid below the104-per-barrel level, and US bond yields eased after the US Federal Reserve hiked interest rates by 25 basis points.
