Sensex declines 210 pts, Nifty at 24,615 ahead of RBI policy decision

The domestic share market ended lower on Tuesday,snapping a four day winning streak weighed by banks, financial and IT shares.Investors also remained cautious ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision due on Wednesday. At close, the Sensex was down 210.08 points or 0.27 percent at 78,428.95, and the Nifty was down 159.40 points or 0.64 percent at 24,614.90.
Hindalco, Trent, Apollo Hospitals, Jio Financial and Eternal were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Grasim Industries, HDFC Life, Max Healthcare, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Industries.On the sectoral front,the Nifty Realty declined over 2 per cent to become the worst-hit among peers. The Nifty FMCG, the Nifty Private Bank, and the Nifty Bank also underperformed.Among broader indices, the Nifty midcap index shed 0.3 percent, while smallcap index was up 0.2 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 4 Aug'26,the Indian rupee ended marginally lower at 95.38 against the US  dollar on Tuesday, according to agency reports.
Trading Guide:
Market experts recommended five shares to buy on Tuesday: Aditya Birla Capital, Diffusion Engineers, I G Petrochemicals, Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services, and Gulf Oil Lubricants India.
