Despite the warning the Archaka Anandathirtha swamiji and his family lived in the damaged house near Talakaveri to perform daily pooja to the goddess Kaveri. He refused to move out of that house having total belief in the god. He used to say that Kaveri will always protect from any danger. But unfortunately his belief is lost in the fury of torrential rain, no goddess saved their life. Tragedy does not end there, due to heavy down pour the relief work is very slow and only one body recovered so far despite the operation by NDDF. The reason for landslide is mainly due to the construction of resorts and swimming pools on the top of the hill as well as in the entire region for commercial purposes. Along with this the forest department ha taken developmental work like storage ponds.
