Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday accused Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, of using national security issues as a political tool in the House. He said national security is an extremely important matter for the country and urged Gandhi to refrain from raising such issues in a manner for political gain. Speaking to the media at the Parliament premises, the Minister said it is very dangerous not to adhere to the rules and regulations of the House. He further said that as the Leader of the Opposition, Gandhi has an obligation to maintain the decorum of the House."We are going to file a privilege notice against Rahul Gandhi for misleading the house and also making baseless statements. There are very clear-cut rules of procedure and conduct of business in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. When a member intends to make serious charges against another member, then you have to give notice and also substantiate the allegation," he alleged.

Commenting on the notice regarding the removal of the Lok Sabha Speaker, Rijiju said there are well-established norms and procedures in the House for dealing with such matters. He added that the action of Congress MPs in this regard has lowered the dignity of the Speaker’s office.
