Producer Prerna Arora pens note congratulating Ekta Kapoor on Crew's success

In a heartfelt open letter on social media, renowned film producer Prerna Arora expressed her admiration and support for fellow producer Ekta Kapoor, congratulating her on yet another blockbuster success with Crew, the Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu starrer. As the film surpassed the 100 Crore mark at the box office, Arora commended her “role model” Kapoor for her achievement and highlighted the significance of having a female producer behind the success of a major film.
"I believed in the story and went ahead anyway," Prerna Arora stated, underscoring the resilience and determination required to overcome skepticism and pave the way for female producers to thrive in Bollywood. She cited her own successes with films like "Padman," "Toilet," and "Rustom" as testament to the potential of female producers to deliver box office hits and garner industry recognition.
Celebrating Ekta Kapoor, Prerna said, “Women can be behind finances and prove to be great producers apart from acting and directing. Many HATS that women can wear! Congrats to EKTA for another victory and crossing 100 crore feat. This is a much bigger victory as there is a female behind the producer's seat, it's easy to picture male producers with multiple 100 crore films without raising eyebrows.
Learning from her personal experience, Arora went on to add, “When I started backing films on important subjects, industry did have its doubts of female producers and how it can affect the numbers, but I believed in the story and went ahead anyways. It's when my films Padman, Toilet, Rustom did well on BO, then people started believing in me.” Arora’s extensive filmography has gone on to be socially acclaimed as well as commercial box office successes."Females don't have to pick a chair to sit, but get her own chair and make space! Cheers to more such female filmmakers/producers/cinematographers. So keep going! Take that step,” signs off Prerna. The open letter has been doing rounds on social media and also reached Ekta who took to her story to thank Prerna for the sweet and encouraging gesture.

Working with Manoj Bajpayee and Prachi Desai is an absolute delight: Vaquar Shaikh

Seasoned actor Vaquar Shaikh, who is currently playing Yashdeep, in popular show Anupamaa will be seen in the second instalment of the film Silence releasing on 16th April on Zee5. He will be portraying the same character of Inspector Raj Gupta.Taking about this development,Shaikh says, “What intrigued me about my character Raj is his portrayal as a principled and honest police officer. He's known for his ability to tackle intricate cases effectively. When the government established a special crime unit, Raj was selected based on his outstanding track record and bold approach to solving cases during his tenure. His reputation for integrity, courage, and past successes earned him a spot in this elite unit tasked with handling special cases in the city and led by ACP Avinash, portrayed by Mr. Manoj Bajpayee. It's a beautifully crafted role.”
He also adds, ”Working with Manoj Bajpayee is a great experience for any actor. When I was approached for "Silence One," I was captivated by its engaging storyline and well-written dialogues. Brilliantly crafted by our director writer Aban Bharucha Deohans. It falls into the murder mystery genre, and during our initial read-through, we kept guessing about the identity of the killer. The script is truly remarkable with intricately developed characters, each bringing a unique personality to the screen. The icing on the cake is the opportunity to share screen space with Manoj Bajpayee, widely regarded as one of the finest actors in the world today. What sets him apart is his openness and encouragement for improvisation. He creates a comfortable environment for actors and welcomes spontaneity. It's truly enriching to collaborate with such a seasoned and supportive actor. There's so much wisdom to gain from him. Every day was a learning experience. He consistently surprised us and guided us on how to approach our roles. His advice was simple yet profound: be truthful to your craft. Understand your character's backstory, motivations, and reactions. Just stay true to the character.”
Sharing further details about his role Vaquar says,” Raj Gupta is a part of the special crime unit. He has been collaborating with his team on solving cases. Over time, Raj has evolved to become responsible and reliable. You'll notice him taking on more tasks in "Silence Two" compared to the first instalment. Working with Manoj Bajpayee and Prachi Desai is an absolute delight for me. The opportunity to work with them is a privilege and an honor. I'm truly grateful to Aban Bharucha Deohans (director) and Kiran Deohans (producer) for entrusting me with this role. Working with Prachi was similar. We instantly clicked because we come from similar backgrounds—both having worked in television. This instant connection fostered a strong friendship, which carried over from "Silence One" to "Silence Two" and strengthened our on-screen dynamics.”
Talking about the challenges on Silence 2 Shaikh says, ”Silence 1 was smooth. Silence 2 was shot during the rains. The studio was filled with water, still we were shooting. We shot for 7-8 days in heavy rains. We were not supposed to dub as we needed the sync sounds so that was also a challenge. Kiran sir made sure that we completed it on schedule with all his experience.“

Love to take breaks to spend time with myself: Namita Lal

Actor-producer Namita Lal says she takes breaks as and when she can. She believes it not only rejuvenates and refreshes her, but she also gets to spend time with herself.“I think it is very important to take a break, and I am the kind of person who takes frequent breaks. I believe that whenever I get time between two shoots, two projects, I take a few days off. I spend time with myself, which I love to do, look after myself, do some self-reflection, meditate, and walk in nature, that's the kind of break I take very frequently,” she said."Then, of course, when I have more time, I go for long breaks. I love to travel, I go visit my family overseas and have some fun times with friends. I have a strong belief that it's not a break; it's life for me. It is taking time off to just be with myself, and I love to take breaks to spend time with myself,” she added.
She mentioned that the older generation does not believe in taking breaks and is constantly working, while the younger ones know its importance. She said, “The older generation was more into work, and a lot of people are still like that. I have friends who work in banks, and they are constantly working in the corporate sector. But I think the younger generation is a lot more aware of the fact that they need to take breaks. They spend more time with themselves.”
However, she mentioned that it’s important for them to take breaks from their phones too. “Social media has become an addiction, and there are phones, laptops, and iPads that go with the younger generation, so yes, for them, taking breaks from technology is extremely important. I do that for myself, I do have times or hours in the day when I'm mobile-free, and while I've started watching a lot of content on TV, I try not to watch content on my phone and the iPad,” she said.
“So whenever I watch any shows, etc., it has to be the TV, and I don't have TVs in every room, so when I go back to my room, it's books, and it's self reflection and meditation. Those are my daily breaks, reading and going for a nature walk,” Namita concluded.
