President,VP and PM pay tributes to war heroes on Kargil Vijay Diwas

President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday paid tributes to the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, remembering their extraordinary courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty. In a post on X, President Murmu paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives in defence of the country, saying their unparalleled valour, unwavering resolve and patriotism exemplify the glorious traditions of the Indian Armed Forces. She said the nation would always remain indebted to the brave warriors and added that their courage and sacrifice would continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation with dedication and uphold their duties with unwavering commitment. 
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said the nation salutes the brave soldiers whose exceptional courage, steadfast determination and supreme sacrifice led to India’s historic victory in the 1999 Kargil War and protected the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He described the victory as a testament to India’s military strength, national unity and unwavering resolve to defend every inch of its territory, adding that the nation would remain forever grateful to the brave soldiers and their families. 
PM Modi also paid tribute to the Kargil heroes, expressing the nation’s gratitude to the soldiers for their extraordinary courage and commitment to India’s security. In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, our nation expresses gratitude to the brave soldiers for their extraordinary courage and commitment towards securing India. Their valour in the face of the most formidable conditions will forever remain a source of national pride. Their unwavering patriotism and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also remembered the martyrs of the Kargil War, paying heartfelt tributes to the soldiers who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. He said the nation would forever remain grateful to the brave warriors who displayed exceptional courage on the treacherous heights of Kargil in 1999, adding that the courage, sacrifice and unwavering resolve of the Indian Armed Forces would continue to inspire future generations with patriotism, a strong sense of duty and the spirit of selfless service to the nation.
Observed every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorates India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War, when the Indian Armed Forces successfully evicted Pakistani intruders from strategic heights in the Kargil sector under Operation Vijay, reaffirming the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
