In Jammu and Kashmir, a policeman succumbed to his injuries after suspected terrorists opened fire on a police party in Anantnag district. The firing took place around 12.30 pm on Wednesday at Lal Chowk in Anantnag. They said one head constable, Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, posted on Amarnath yatra security duty was injured in the attack and rushed to the Government Medical College hospital at Anantnag.The doctors declared him brought dead.There is heavy deployment of security forces in Anantnag town amid ongoing Amarnath Yatra. The Yatra remains suspended for last four days due to inclement weather in Jammu and Kashmir.J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat visited the Anantnag terror attack site.

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha spoke with DGP Nalin Prabhat to review the situation following the terror attack in Anantnag." I strongly condemn this cowardly attack. This heinous act will not go unpunished. J&K Police and our security forces are on the ground and will bring those responsible to justice," he said.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of Lashkar-e-Toiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an operation to track down the terrorists.
