PM Modi participates in Yoga session during Uzbekistan visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a yoga session organised by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan in Tashkent on Sunday, interacting with participants during the event,according to media reports.


Modi arrived in Uzbekistan on Saturday for a two-day state visit and was warmly received by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the airport.During his visit, Modi and Mirziyoyev visited the Yangi Uzbekistan Monument, where they laid a wreath and examined artwork depicting Uzbek culture and history.Modi said the monument reflects the aspirations and progress of the Uzbek people.

The Prime Minister also received a warm welcome from members of the Indian community in Tashkent, describing the diaspora as a “living bridge” between India and Uzbekistan.He also appreciated an Indian-Uzbek fusion cultural performance featuring instruments including the tabla, doira and chang, saying it showcased the deep cultural connect between the two countries.

In a special gesture, several women from the Indian community tied rakhis on Modi’s wrist while greeting him.During his two-day visit, Modi is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with President Mirziyoyev to advance bilateral cooperation in areas including trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy. The discussions will also focus on the shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.Modi said the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership had witnessed significant progress in recent years and expressed confidence that his discussions with Mirziyoyev would further deepen bilateral cooperation.He is also scheduled to visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, which he described as symbols of the close cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Modi’s participation in the yoga session in Tashkent highlighted the growing cultural and people-to-people connect between India and Uzbekistan, with the Prime Minister also interacting with participants.
