Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated, laid the foundation stone, and dedicated development works worth over Rs5,400 crore in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Speaking on the occasion, he said India is becoming stronger by following the path shown by “Sudarshan Chakradhari Mohan” (Lord Krishna) and “Charkhadhari Mohan” (Mahatma Gandhi). He stressed that while one taught the nation the importance of justice andsecurity, the other inspired self-reliance through Swadeshi, which continues to guide India’s progress today.

Addressing a large gathering, Modi underlined that India no longer spares terrorists or their masterminds,regardless of where they hide, citing recent operations as proof of the nation’s resolve. He assured that his government would not allow any harm to come to small entrepreneurs, farmers, or livestock rearers, and emphasised that industries of every kind are now expanding on Gujarat’s soil. Highlighting India’s socio- economic strides, he said the government is working continuously to empower both the neo-middle class and the traditional middle class.The Prime Minister also touched upon upcoming festivals, calling them not just cultural celebrations but opportunities for strengthening self-reliance. He urged citizens to buy and gift Made-in-India products during the festive season. “This Diwali, whether it is the trading community or families, everyone will receive a double bonus of happiness,” Modi remarked, stressing that true gifts are those crafted by Indian hands.

The development projects launched include railway works worth over Rs1,400 crore, such as the doubling of the Mahesana–Palanpur rail line, gauge conversion of the Kalol–Kadi-Katosan Road line, and the Bechraji–Ranuj line. Modi also flagged off passenger train betweenc Katosan Road and Sabarmati and launched a car-loaded Ro-RO freight service from Bechraji to strengthen connectivity for pilgrims, passengers, and industries. Road projects include the widening of the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road, new underpasses on the Ahmedabad –Mehsana –Palanpur highway, and a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad– Viramgam road.
In the power and urban sectors, Modi unveiled distribution projects worth over Rs1,000 crore across Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar to reduce outages and enhance safety. He also inaugurated the in-situ slum rehabilitation project under PMAY (U) at Ramapir No Tekro in Ahmedabad, alongside works to widen the Sardar Patel Ring Road and strengthen water supply and sewerage systems. Projects to modernise governance ,including a new Stamps and Registration building in5 Ahmedabad West and a state-level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar, were also launched to boost digital governance and streamline citizen services.
The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister,C R Patil were present among other dignitaries at the event. The Prime Minister arrived in Gujarat for a two-day visit on August 25–26 and was greeted with a massive public reception. Thousands of people lined Ahmedabad’s streets, waving flags and chanting slogans, as Modi held a roadshow soon after landing at the city’s airport.
