One sting operation has created a big political 'hulchul' in West Bengal. The first fallout of this operation became an alliance between the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Humayun Kabir's Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP). AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, announced it would no longer ally with Humayun Kabir’s party after a video surfaced containing remarks it said questioned the integrity of Muslims. The party declared it would contest the West Bengal Assembly elections independently, citing its goal of ensuring marginalised communities have their own political voice. The ruling Trinamool Congress released a purported sting video that allegedly shows Kabir making controversial claims about Muslims in West Bengal and his ‘links’ with the BJP.In the video circulated by the TMC, Kabir is purportedly heard claiming he had been in touch with the PMO and was advised to coordinate with leaders from BJP-ruled states.
The Trinamool Congress on Thurday released a 19-minute video allegedly featuring Kabir discussing a Rs1,000 crore arrangement with BJP leaders to divert Muslim votes from TMC. The clip includes claims of an advance payment, strategies to 'mislead' Muslims, and coordination with BJP figures such as Suvendu Adhikari and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The video, called ‘The Reality of HK’, was published on a YouTube channel on Wednesday. The person resembling Kabir is heard demanding Rs 1,000 crore of which Rs. 300 crore shpuld be as advance to spend among the electorate before the polls as “it was done in Bihar.”

Kabir has denied all allegations, calling the footage AI-generated and accusing TMC of a politically motivated smear campaign.TMC leaders have called for an Enforcement Directorate probe into the alleged deal, claiming BJP was using Kabir to split minority votes. Kabir has threatened defamation suits against senior TMC figures, insisting he has had no contact with BJP leaders since 2019. The BJP, while dismissing the video as doctored, has urged TMC to take the matter to court if it believes the allegations are genuine.
Kabir later claimed the video was created by artificial intelligence. “Let them give evidence of any meeting I had with any BJP leaders anywhere. The Trinamool scared that the Muslim voters have moved away from the party. The Trinamool scared of my rising popularity. If they cannot prove I will file case against Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Firhad Hakim and Aroop Biswas,” Kabir told media persons. Kabir, who made a career in politics hopping parties, was suspended by the Trinamool in 2025 over his declaration of building a Babri Masjid in Murshidabad’s Beldanga.
