Opposition MPs, who are members of the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his office in New Delhi on Monday.Talking to media persons after the meeting AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, Lok Sabha Speaker was informed that the JPC chairman is not listening to opposition members and the report cannot be given in a hurry. Owaisi added that the speaker respected the sentiments of the opposition members and assured them that he will extend the timeline to submit the report.

Members argued, a JPC report be prepared after listening to all the arguments. The discussion on the ministry's report is still pending and it should be completed, several members of Waqf Board are yet to come before the JPC, they said.
