  • NO PASSPORT, GOVT JOB TO STONE PELETERS: The CID wing of J&K Police has ordered the denial of security clearance required for passport and other govt services to all those involved in stone-pelting or subversive activities.
  • DHANBAD JUDGE CASE: Patherdih Police Station Officer has been suspended for not registering FIR on time. Jharkhand Govt. has recommended CBI probe into hit and run death of Dhanbad Judge.
  • ASSAM-MIZORAM BORDER TENSION: Tension was palpable on Sunday at the Assam-Mizoram border as the restrictions on the movement of vehicles, including trucks carrying essential supplies, entered the sixth day.Both states kept forces at the borders adding to tensions.
  • FIR AGAINST ASSAM CM: Mizoram govt is ready to withdraw FIR filed against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuango said. Mizoram Police booked Sarma, four senior Assam Police officers and two officials on different charges, including ‘attempt to murder’, ‘criminal conspiracy’ and ‘assault’.
  • RESERVATION FOR EWS: Telangana Govt. will implement Centre’s economically weaker sections (EWS) reservations in education and employment from this year. 10% EWS quota to only those families whose gross annual income is below Rs 8 lakh.
  • KRISHNA WATER DISPUTE: Andhra Pradesh Govt will dwell on sharing of Krishna River water dispute with Telangana on August 6.
  • PRAISE ON SINDHU: President Ram Nath Kovind congratulates ace shuttler P V Sindhu for winning bronze medal and bringing glory to India. PM Modi also congratulated Sindhu on her Olympic achievements. P V Sindhu became only the second Indian and the country's first woman to bag two Olympic medals after winning the bronze in women’s badminton at the Tokyo Games.
  • WARNING TO BABUL SUPRIYO: BJP leadership has warned Babul Supriyo for his social media outbursts. Meanwhile Babul Supriyo has clarified on joining other parties and said that he won’t have deal with uncouth comment.
  • COVID UPDATE: The number of active case count has gone up. More than 41 thousand new covid cases and 541 death are reported in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate touches 2.34%. Meanwhile the cumulative number of Covid vaccine doses administered so far has reached 47.02 crore.
  • TN MANDATES RT-PCR TEST: Tamil Nadu govt. has made the RT-PCR test with negative results mandatory for travellers from Kerala. This guideline will be effective from August 5. Kerala has been registering an average 20 thousand covid cases per day for the last one week.
  • NO DOWRY DECLARATION MANDATORY: Kerala government has issued a circular demanding all male government employees to sign and submit a “no-dowry declaration” within one month of marriage. This circular aims at  an attempt to strengthen the implementation of the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961 and lessen dowry cases in the state.
  • RESCUE OPERATTION IN HP: Over 370 people stranded in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul-Spiti district due to heavy rains and landslides, have been rescued, a state disaster management said.
  • NEW ATM RULES: New cash withdrawal rules in ATMs come into force from Aug 01. The interchange fee that banks can charge on ATMs will see an increase of Rs 2. As per the revised rules, the customers will be eligible for five free transactions every month from their home bank ATMs.

  •  UNSC PRESIDENCY: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the first Indian PM to preside over the UN Security Council meeting. This is the 1st time in over 75 years that Indian political leadership has invested in presiding over an event of 15 members UN body.
  • UNSC MEET: India on Sunday took over the rotating presidency of UNSC from France and will be hosting signature events related to maritime security, peacekeeping and counter-terrorism in the August month. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Harsh Singla will also chair high level meetings on topics of global importance.
  • 6TH HOTLINE BETWEEN INDIA-CHINA: India and China established 6th hotline between ground commanders along LOC. A hotline will operate between Indian Army at Kongra La in North Sikkim and People’s Liberation Army at Khamba Dzong in Tibetan Autonomous Region. This will further the spirit of trust and cordial relations along the borders. The inauguration was attended by ground commanders of the respective Armies. A message of friendship and harmony was also exchanged through the Hotline.
  • INDIA-BANGLADESH RELATION: Regular freight train service starts between India and Bangladesh on the revived Haldibari-Chilahati rail route.  Haldibari – Chilahati rail link is the 5th rail link between India and Bangladesh being made operational. Apart from this Petrapole-Benapole, Gede-Darshana, Singhabad-Rohanpur and Radhikapur-Birol routes are currently operational.
  • TOKYO OLYMPIC: India’s men’s hockey team made it to the semi-finals after 49 years. The eight-time Olympic champions beat Great Britain to set up semi-final with World champions Belgium. India’s last semi-finals appearance at the Games was in 1972 at Munich, where they lost 0-2 to arch-rivals Pakistan.
