The domestic share market traded lower on Monday amid selling pressure across sectors,barring healthcare.At close, the Sensex was down 382.62 points or 0.50 percent at 76,132.81, and the Nifty was down 118.55 points or 0.50 percent at 23,779.15.
Apollo Hospitals, Bharti Airtel, L&T, Coal India, Max Healthcare were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Infosys, SBI Life Insurance, Tech Mahindra, Jio Financial, HDFC Life.On the sectoral front,except pharma (up 0.75%), all other sectoral indices ended in the red with Information Technology, Media, Metal, PSU Bank, Realty shed 1-2.8 percent, according to agency reports.The broader market traded mixed with Nifty Midcap index slipped 0.5%, while the Smallcap index ended on flat note.
Rupee Close:
On 7 Sep'26, the Indian rupee fell 7 paise to close at 94.50 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday as surging crude oil prices and global headwinds offset the support from strong FCNR dollar inflows.Forex traders said the rupee saw modest gains in initial trade on foreign inflows, but a negative trend in domestic equities and rising crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiment.
