The domestic share market ended on a weak note on Friday surge in crude oil prices, rising bond yields and selling seen in metal, realty and PSU bank stocks.At close, the Sensex was down 120.83 points or 0.16 percent at 74,781.76, and the Nifty was down 79.70 points or 0.34 percent at 23,398.10. For the week BSE Sensex and Nifty shed 2% each.
Dr Reddy's Laboratories, HDFC Bank, ITC, Tech Mahindra and Wipro were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Eicher Motors and ONGC.On the sectoral front,the Nifty Private Bank index rose 0.5%. Meanwhile, the Metal and Realty indices declined more than 2% each, while Auto, Energy, Oil & Gas, and PSU Bank indices fell 0.5% each.Broader indices also ended lower, with Nifty Midcap index declining 0.26%, and Smallcap index falling 0.6%.
The market will remain shut on Monday, September 14, 2026 on account of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Rupee Close:
On 11 Sep'26,the Indian rupee,ended lower for the fourth consecutive session, weakening 11 paise to close at 95.55 against the US dollar on Friday,driven by elevated crude oil prices and foreign portfolio outflows.Forex traders said while record foreign exchange reserves, active Reserve Bank intervention, and robust domestic growth provide crucial support, rising global yields and crude trading above $108 continue to weigh heavily on the country's import bill.
