MP to observe ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ fortnight from April 10–25

Madhya Pradesh is set to observe the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ fortnight from April 10 to 25, with a series of events aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and raising awareness about the provisions of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.According to information, the state government has directed authorities to organise the campaign as a public festival across the state, celebrating women’s leadership and participation across sectors.
The fortnight-long initiative will be formally launched in Bhopal with a state-level conference at Hansdhwani Auditorium in Ravindra Bhavan. The event will see participation from intellectuals and prominent personalities. Similar large-scale conferences are scheduled to be held at all divisional and district headquarters, including Chhindwara, Khargone and Mandsaur.During these events, women MPs, MLAs, mayors, and panchayat representatives, along with successful women entrepreneurs, will be felicitated and will share their experiences.
As part of the outreach, the Women and Child Development Department will organise ‘Nari Shakti Padyatras’ in every Lok Sabha and Assembly constituency, encouraging participation from women across communities. The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will also set up ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Wall’ installations to engage youth, allowing them to express views on women’s empowerment through art and messages.A key highlight of the campaign will be the observance of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14. Special Gram Sabhas will be conducted in all gram panchayats, where tributes will be paid to B. R. Ambedkar, followed by discussions on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. Seminars and deliberations will also be held across three-tier panchayats, urban local bodies and educational institutions.
District collectors have been instructed to involve women self-help groups, ‘Lakhpati Didis’ and ‘Ladli Behna’ beneficiaries as key participants in the campaign. Lectures and discussions will also be organised in industrial, commercial and cooperative institutions to highlight women’s economic and social contributions.Educational institutions, including universities, colleges and schools, will host lectures and competitions under the guidance of the Higher Education and School Education Departments, aimed at sensitising the younger generation to the legal and social dimensions of women’s empowerment.
