MP CM launches State’s first helicopter service to boost tourism

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday launched the state’s first helicopter service, marking a significant step toward enhancing tourism and regional connectivity. The ‘PM Shri Tourism Helicopter Service’ was flagged off at the Raja Bhoj International Airport, coinciding with the state’s 70th Foundation Day celebrations.According to officials, Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to introduce such a dedicated helicopter tourism service. Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Yadav said the initiative aims to make air travel not merely a mode of transport but a joyful experience. “We are not just connecting places but also hearts and experiences,” he remarked. The helicopter service will connect major tourist circuits across the state in its initial phase — including Bhopal-Pachmarhi-Madhai, Indore-Ujjain-Omkareshwar, and Jabalpur-Kanha-Bandhavgarh. Officials said the service will significantly cut travel time for tourists, allowing them to explore multiple destinations within a single day.

Highlighting the broader economic impact, Yadav said the initiative will promote rural employment, homestay ventures, and local handicrafts, giving a boost to the tourism-based economy. He noted that Madhya Pradesh has already operationalised air ambulance services and expanded intra-state aviation connectivity, with new airports becoming functional in Rewa, Satna, and Datia. The Chief Minister announced that a new airport will also be developed in Ujjain, home to the revered Mahakaleshwar temple, to further strengthen the tourism network. He expressed confidence that the helicopter service would help double the state’s tourist inflow by 2030.Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi lauded the initiative, saying that under Yadav’s leadership, Madhya Pradesh’s tourism sector is reaching new heights.
The helicopter service, operating under a public-private partnership model through Trans Bharat Aviation and Jet Serve Aviation Pvt Ltd, will function five days a week. Regular operations will begin on November 20, offering end-to-end travel packages that include transport, accommodation, and guided tours.Minister Krishna Gaur, Airports Authority of India (AAI) Chairman Vipin Kumar, and several MLAs attended the inaugural ceremony, marking a new chapter in Madhya Pradesh’s journey toward becoming a premier tourism destination.
