The domestic share market traded positive for the third straight session on Friday, led by broad-based buying across sectors except FMCG and IT.At close, the Sensex was up 166.49 points or 0.21 percent at 78,094.64, and the Nifty was up 66.45 points or 0.27 percent at 24,383.60.
Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Jio Financial, M&M and Adani Ports were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included TCS, Eternal, Max Healthcare, Infosys and Wipro.On the sectoral front,performance remained broadly positive, with Nifty Media emerging as the top gainer, rising 2%, followed by Nifty Auto , Nifty Oil & Gas , Nifty Energy , Nifty Pharma , Nifty Infra and Nifty PSU Bank . On the downside, Nifty IT declined 1.5%, making it the worst-performing sector, while Nifty FMCG slipped 1%, according to agency reports.The broader market outperformed the benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 rising 0.4% each.For the week, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 advanced 2.6%, recovering all of the previous week's losses and ending the week on a strong note.
Rupee Close:
On 31 July'26,the Indian rupee remained in positive territory on Friday, gaining 15 paise to settle at 95.35 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar, tracking foreign capital inflows and support from the Reserve Bank of India.However, higher global crude oil prices and a stronger greenback capped sharper gains in the local unit, while elevated tensions in West Asia kept markets on edge, forex traders said.
