The Uttar Pradesh government has recommended a CBI probe into the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad's National President and Mahant of Baghambari Gaddi math Swami Narendra Giri's mysterious death at Prayagraj on September 20. The inquiry has been recommended to the centre by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Mahant Narendra Giri was found dead hanging with a nylon rope in his room at Baghambari Math. It has been said that the 72-year-old Mahanth went to his room after lunch but did not respond when disciples knocked on the door or called him on his cell phone repeatedly later in the evening. The district Police has said that it as a prima facie case of suicide. Prayagraj range Inspector General of Police KP Singh has said that the door of the room was locked from inside. He also said that a handwritten suicide letter was recovered from the room in which Mahant Narendra Giri wrote his will and the names of a number of people who had been allegedly troubling him.
His one of the most close disciple Mahanth Anand Giri and main priest of Sangam Hanuman Temple and his son have been arrested . Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former CM Akhilesh Yadav, Dy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya, UP's law Minister Brajesh Pathak and other dignitaries visited Baghambari Gaddi and paid floral tribute to departed soul.Samajwadi party National President and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has demanded probe into mysterious death of Manth Giri by a sitting High Court Judge.
District police has set up a 18 member SIT of police officers and personal to probe into the mysterious death of Mahanth Narendra Giri. In this SIT two Dy SP rank officers have been included. A FIR has been filed at George Town police station in the case. Amar Giri one of Disciple of Mahanth Narendra Giri has filed named FIR against Anand Giri saying that Mahanth Narendra Giri was disturbed with activites of Anand Giri. Meanwhile Mahanth Narendra Giri's mortal remains were given Bhusamadhi this afternoon at his Math as per his desire expressed in his suicide note.
