Khajuraho is all set to host the Dance Festival 2021 from February 20 to 26.The seven-day festival will feature rich cultural values. The outline of these presentations has been prepared by the Department of Culture. Viewers will be allowed with following the covid guidelines during the event sanitation and social distancing will have to be followed at the venue. Viewership has not been determined. But,Wearing a mask while watching the program will also be mandatory.
The onset of the program will be marked on 20 February with performances of Bharat Natyam by Geeta Chandran and troupe and Kathak performance will be given by Deepak Maharaj.On 21 February, Aishwarya Wariyar will perform Mohani Attam, Satriya-Kathak duet will be pull off by Meernanda Thakur, Utpala Hukai, Aligunjan Kalita Mudiyar and Chandrani Kalita Ojha, Odissi dance by Aruna Mohanty and troupe.
Kathak will be represented by Saurav-Gaurav Mishra on 22 February; Marg Natya Kathak by Pithal Bhattacharya and troupe. Kathak-Bharatnatyam duet will be presented by Sulagna Banerjee and Rajdeep Banerjee.On February 23, Vinod kevin Bachchan will present Odissi duet with Vrinda Chaddha and Anita Sharma and troupe will perform Satriya group and Priya Srivastava will showcase Kathak.
Similarly, on February 24, Odhissi dance by Poornashri Raut and Kuchipudi by Avijeet Das, Bharti Shivaji and troupe will perform Mohiniattam.Kathak group performance will be pull off by Maitreyi Pahari and troupe on February 25, Bharat Natattayam by Sathya Narayan Raju and Ayana Mukherjee will perform Kuchipudi-Chau duet with Prashanth Kalia.Manipuri dance group will be presented by Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy on February 26. Arya Nande will showcase oddisi and Bharat Nattayam will be performed by Poornima Ashok and troupe.
In addition to the dance in this ceremony, various programs for art lovers will be organized including, concentration on Bharatanatyam - naphthaya, arts fair- Hunar , discourse on various aspects of culture through documentary - Chal chtra, Kalavarta indigenous art tradition fair, skill arts, These include undertaking of films focusing on artist and art traditions, workshop and exhibition focused on cinematic terracotta and ceramic, Samashti Bundeli cuisine fair, organizing different folk dances of Taste Khajuraho, Lokotsav.
Representative from Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Kala Academy, Bhopal, Naeem Khan told that this time Naphtya, Art Mart, Hunar, Kalavarta and Food Fair etc. will also be the main parts of the dance festival.Collector Sheilendra Singh said that during the festival, Covid guidelines will be followed, He asked the SDM, Rajnagar D P Dwivedi to ensure the Covid guidelines and other related precautions during the festival. The dance festival is one of the most dignified ceremony in the country focusing on Indian classical dance styles, In this ceremony, famous artists from all over the country and the world give their dance performances.
