In Karnataka, BJP MLA Basanagowda Patil Yathnal collapsed in front of Speaker's office while protesting against the suspension 10 BJP MLAs from the rest of the State Assembly session for throwing papers at Deputy Speaker Rudrappa Lamani while he was on his chair. He was immediately shifted to Fortis hospita near Vidhana Soudha, where his condition is said to be stable. BJP MLAs accused Speaker as puppet in the hands of Congress government. As opposition members from the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) protested from the well of the House, alleging that 30 IAS officers were deputed to serve the Congress alliance leaders in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP members expressed their discontent by throwing papers at the Chair and Deputy Speaker Lamani.

In response to the Speaker's decision to proceed with the session amidst the protests and without a lunch break, the BJP members convened for a brief huddle before abruptly throwing papers at the Chair, demanding to know the rule under which the lunch was canceled. The situation escalated as several members continued to throw papers at the Deputy Speaker, leading to chaos in the assembly. Chief Minister Siddaraiah criticised BJP behavior as uncivilized and goodaism.
Meanwhile, the Opposition BJP and Janata Dal Secular have moved a no-confidence motion against assembly Speaker U T Khader after he suspended 10 BJP MLAs for unruly activities for the rest of the ongoing session. The assembly session started on July 3 and will continue till July 21. Suspended MLAs physically removed from the floor of the Assembly by marshals.
