The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday decided to withdraw its earlier notification granting unrestricted permission for CBI to conduct investigations in the state. The move came amid calls for a CBI probe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA land scam case, after a court verdict on Wednesday directed the anti-corruption body to conduct an investigation.. Law Minister HK Patil said the state wished to flag the "biased" actions of the federal agency and ruled out any link to land scam allegations facing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah."We are withdrawing open consent for CBI investigations in the state. We are expressing our concerns about the misuse of the agency. They are biased... that is why are taking this decision," he said. Under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, the government had earlier granted the central probe agency permission to freely carry out criminal investigations in the state. The Cabinet also decided that no communication like of explanation or a detail note shall go to Governor without cabinet and after our advice, the chief secretary can send it to Governor.

Meanwhile,Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that he would not resign and reiterated any wrongdoing in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment case. His remarks came a day after a special court ordered the Lokayukta to conduct a probe against him over alleged irregularities in the case, paving the way to register an FIR against the Chief Minister. "Did the Prime Minister tender his resignation after the Godhra riots as his capacity as the Chief Minister of Gujarat at the time? (Former Karnataka Chief Minister) HD Kumaraswamy, who is a Union Minister now, is facing corruption charges. Will he resign?" he queried.
