The Karnataka, government imposed restrictions on public celebrations of new year. On Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced that no parties or mass gatherings would be permitted in the state from December 30 to January 2. According to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai in view of the Covid-19 situation in the state and the rising number of Omicron cases,we have restricted public celebration of new year, however, celebrations are permitted in clubs and restaurants with 50 per cent seating capacity without any special event like DJ.
On the recommendation of experts, the state government decided to ban mass gatherings across the state. He added that no parties or events like having Disc Jockeys at clubs and restaurants would be allowed. Similarly in apartments too, there will be no parties or DJs. The residents' associations have been asked to ensure that the rules are not violated. Detailed guidelines on Covid restrictions during new year will be released soon.
